Originating with the little-known NY-based Herbert Photos News Service, this striking three-quarter-length portrait retains its reverse-side paper caption: "BOBBY IS STILL IN THE RUNNING - At this writing, Bobby Jones, current holder of that title, is still a contender in the thirty-second National Amateur Golf Championship tournament, playing on the Brae Burn course at Newton, Mass. Jones eliminated Brown in the first round, 4 and 3; but he had a narrow escape from elimination himself in the second round, when Ray Gorton carried him to the 19th hole. PHOTO SHOWS: Bobby Jones emphasizing a golf point for the reporters, with his putter, after finishing the second round of the National Amateur Golf Championship tournament, at Brae Burn." Typical minor wear due to routine newsroom usage, including a small blue ink mark on sweater.
