Calling all vintage football collectors! Presented is a circa 1940s Detroit Lions game used helmet worn by Hall of Famer Alex Wojciechowicz. The size 7-1/8” grey Rawlings helmet features air holes on top and around the main earhole on the left and right sides. The protective accessory shows heavy game use including surface marks and general wear throughout; the helmet also features a chin strap attached on one side. This particular item was bought in a December 2005 MastroNet Auction, but the original provenance could not be obtained because the individual who purchased it passed away and his heirs are unable to locate it. Diligent research has revealed that the characteristics of the helmet are consistent with others that were worn during the time when Wojciechowicz played and it greatly resembles those that he is wearing in original photographs of the time. A truly great addition to any vintage football collection. More on website
