“There had never been a championship team like the 1942 St. Louis Cardinals,” writes Jerome M. Mileur in his book High-Flying Birds. “Led by the innovative baseball executive Branch Rickey, the Cardinals had pioneered in developing the farm system…[All] eight of the everyday starters and all but one of the starting pitchers were home-grown.” They were also at that time probably “the youngest team in both age and experience ever to win the National League pennant and the youngest ever to win a World Series.” This creamy "Official League" ball features signatures averaging "8" w/Musial, Slaughter, Southworth, Marion, M. Cooper (MVP), W. Cooper, Walker, Beazley, Lanier, Triplett, Brown, Sanders, Crespi, Kurowski, T. Moore, O'Dea, Dusak (2), White, Gumbert, Narron, Krist. Full LOA from JSA.
