Description

Rare baseball ephemera entices historically minded collectors with this pair of early 20th Century envelopes. Dated 1908 and 1913, these correspondence conveyors feature printed provenance of the issuing entities along with USPS stamps and postmarks. Offered are:

1913 Federal League Base Ball Club of Saint Louis envelope (VG) with deference to the right end being torn off, issued by the St. Louis Terriers of the short-lived Federal League this scarce envelope remains appealing despite moderate soiling, postmark date is "7/15/1913 St. Louis Mo.”, the reverse side bears a penciled phone number which has been crossed over with additional pencil lines, this condition does not affect the obverse

1908 H.M. Taylor envelope (EX) used by the Detroit based “Art Publisher” to distribute its prized series of 1907-1909 Detroit Tigers baseball postcards, addressed to “Brand Brewing Co” of Chicago this nicely preserved piece is printed at top left with the Taylor title and a compelling “When Life is Worth Living” beacon logo, the postmark is dated “1908 Detroit Mich.”, as rare as the popular Detroit Tigers postcards issued by Taylor are this attractive envelope seems to be far, far tougher
