Easily the only Hall of Famer who was drafted as an afterthought, Mike Piazza is probably one of the greatest hitting catchers in baseball history. Drafted by the Dodgers as a favor to his godfather Tommy Lasorda, Piazza amazed scouts by slamming pitch after pitch over the fence during his tryout, far exceeding the expectations for a 62nd round pick. The presented collection of (102) “Mike Piazza ‘53” 1999 James Fiorentino lithographs shows Mike Piazza as he may have appeared in the 1953 Topps set (incidentally before the Mets existed). This print represents a joint effort between Topps and Bill Goff Inc artists, some of which later developed into lithographs for the more prominent players. A solid addition to the personal inventory of any New York Met fan or baseball collector, this print features vibrant colors and makes solid use of shadows and contrast.
