Description

"Phils Phans" get "Phanatical" over this exciting collection of (77) signed baseball cards. Dating from 1950-1979, this selection is populated with both regular base set cards and oddball issues, from leading brands Topps and Bowman. The 1950 "Whiz Kids" were a bright spot during an extended period of doldrums for the franchise, and the teams of the 1970s set the stage for the "Fightin' Phils" first ever Major League championship, with a World Series win in 1980. In between, there was the infamous "Phold", when a very talented squad faded badly at the wire, after holding a 6-1/2 game lead with 12 games to go in the 1964 season. Many players who suited up for the Phillies during these historic seasons, are found in this inspiring collection. Signature strength ranges ("7" to "10"), and the cards are generally above average to better. Auction LOA from JSA, unless noted.
