In the long, and well-storied history of baseball, just ten pitchers have won 300 games, and recorded 3,000 strikeouts. One of these standout hurlers is recognized here, with this milestone lineup card signed by the good Dr. Gaylord Perry. The "doctor" title is purely honorary, bestowed on Perry's for his diabolical treatment of baseballs during his Hall of Fame career.
While pitching for the lowly San Diego Padres against the San Francisco Giants on 7/28/79, Perry notched career strikeout #3,118, to surpass menacing Cardinals ace Bob Gibson for second place all-time, behind only the legendary Walter Johnson.
Here we have the Padres lineup card from this milestone game. Listing Perry and fellow Hall of Famers Dave Winfield and Ozzie Smith, this card is signed by Perry in red, with ("9") potency. Perry's great accomplishment is chronicled with notations across the top and bottom of the card, and also on an "Umpires" card, which is stapled to the lineup card. Beckett has encapsulated this historic lineup card, with an Authentic Autograph designation.
Also present is a Perry signed ("7") 8x10 photo in San Francisco Giants uniform, which comes with Beckett COA/sticker.
