Revisit some big games that took place long ago, with this 1937-1942 ticket stub lot of (3). Two of these historically important stubs were good for admission to World Series clinching games for the New York Yankees in 1937 and 1938, while the third stub is from the 1942 All-Star Game.
Featured are:
1937 World Series Game 5 stub (FR) from the Polo Grounds, with the Yankees vs. the New York Giants. This was the series clincher for the Yankees, with Lefty Grove getting the win, and home runs by legendary sluggers Joe DiMaggio and Mel Ott.
1938 World Series Game 4 stub (FR-GD) from the Yankees series clincher, which finished off a sweep of the Chicago Cubs at Yankee Stadium. Sadly, this turned out to be the final World Series appearance for the great Lou Gehrig, who went "1/4", while Red Ruffing picked up the win.
1942 All-Star Game stub (VG-EX) from a game at the Polo Grounds, that saw the AL squad win by a score of 3-1. Spud Chandler got the win, with Lou Boudreau and Rudy York belting homers for the winners, while Mickey Owen supplied the NL's only run, which also came on a homer.
